On 30 May 2000, the 222nd anniversary of the death of Voltaire, was created Voltaire Society 1901 international association .
Voltaire philosophy
Its purpose is to stimulate , promote , and coordinate all studies, research, publications and scholarly activities related to voltaire philosophy, in his person, his life and his work , his thought , his influence and all other aspects attached to his name .
In 1997, René Pomeau had accepted the honorary presidency of a company already Voltaire project. It is a tribute to the memory of this great Voltaire , who died Feb. 26, 2000 , we have taken this initiative.
In his letter of acceptance , René Pomeau stressed the unifying role of the company to create the importance of "cooperation" , the establishment of a " communication network " , a "useful support to researchers scattered throughout the wide world . " It is in this spirit that the Voltaire Society was founded .
